Kay Nou & Farm Haiti NOW will partner with the KORECTHO School to provide scholarship funds for a few select students who meet the criteria identified. Throughout the year, Kay Nou & Farm Haiti NOW will document progress of these children in order to keep  followers engaged as well as committed to help set these children on a path geared towards their professional dreams. Kay Nou & Farm Haiti NOW hope to do this program long term – meaning till the child has graduated, but starts this year as a pilot program. The program involves a total of 4 in-country trips. Kay Nou & Farm Haiti NOW will raise educational funds for 6 students identified by Korektho. These students are ones that are excelling academically, yet have personal constraints (ex. loss of parent(s), single parent with inability to pay fees to maintain child in school, or a child with a physical disability as a result of the 2012 earthquake). We will seek to include the cost of tuition, uniforms, books/supplies & transportation (if necessary).

Education: Attendance and grades will be monitored for each child to track progress from year to year. Each child will be enrolled in an ESL class to learn English; have access to music classes with various instruments as well as an art program will be provided throughout the school year.

Agriculture: Each child will have a medical and dental examination conducted at the beginning of the school year and at the end. Each family will perform a food insecurity survey at the beginning of the school year and at the close. Each child’s family will be given farming support in the way of animal husbandry and agro-forestry given them access to a wider nutritional spectrum than previous.

Technology: Each child will have access to an electronic lending library with a selected reading list. Each child will be partnered with a Haitian-American mentor and have access to a device for supervised communication on a minimum of a bi-weekly basis. Each child will learn the basics of aqua-ponics, build a system of their own they can maintain and operate that system with the support of Kijani Grows.
